'American Idol' is gearing up to give one of its finalists THE BOOT from the competition and it's not for the reason you think.  It is not his lack of votes or his singing ability or lack thereof that will give this contestant the boot, but rather a very sketchy past.  Jermaine Jones, the contestant called the 'Gentle Giant' turns out to be not-so gentle after all.  A few days ago, Jones got caught fabricating a fake sob story about his father to garner up some sympathy votes.  But that is not why he is get the big D.Q. TMZ says the singer is getting disqualified for lying to producers about his alleged criminal past. Jones was reportedly confronted about the situation on-camera and the footage will be shown during tonight's performance show.

In 2011, the singer was reportedly charged with two crimes; Jones allegedly gave a fake name to the cops during both arrests.

Sources say one of the incidents involved violence, which was particularly troublesome to producers.

"A.I." sources say Jermaine will appear on the show tonight before he is sent packing.

Over the last few days, we've been reporting that Jermaine told producers his father abandoned him 10 years ago, but his dad called TMZ saying they see each other regularly.

Also sources say that the 'Gentle Giant' was "very aggressive" behind the scenes of 'A.I. once terrorizing a member of the staff by screaming at her because he didn't like his wardrobe.
