The 2012 edition of Star Quest will reach more audiences than ever, as TV broadcast begins on national and cable television stations from March 31, 2012. The highlights of the happenings in the Fameland will be shown daily and in selected bars in Lagos.

Obabiyi Fagade, the Brand Manager – Star, Nigerian Breweries PLC recently spoke on the new innovation and the reason for it ‘The idea behind bringing Star Quest to the screen is to bring the Star Quest excitement home to people. Since the auditions began in February; it’s largely been the judges and the live audience at the audition venues, who get a feel of all the fun and excitement. Now, the excitement is coming home to all Nigerian and African audiences via television’.

He stated clearly that authorities will stick to the broadcast time band which the National Broadcasting Commission regulations clearly spell out for the airing of Star Quest.

The grand finale in which the winning band will emerge is to be aired on TV stations on Saturday, April 21, 2012.

The winning band will go home with  N3.6 million in cash, a recording contract worth N7.5 million, a brand new mini-van, one year’s accommodation and state-of-the-art musical equipment. The band will also get the opportunity of performing in Star sponsored musical shows.

This year’s edition kicked off with the regional auditions running from February 21 -March 8, 2012, in Benue, Enugu and Benin.

Past winners of Star Quest include KC Presh, D’ Accord, D’Jewels, Diamondz, JukeBox and currently The B.E.A.T.
