25 Robbers On The Rampage, Rape Women At Sonola And Muibi Streets In Ogba, Lagos

Robbers numbering about 25 thismorning [Mar. 29] went on the rampage at Sonola and Muibi Streets in Ogba, asuburb of Lagos, Southwest Nigeria, looting and raping women.

 

According to PMNews, members of thegang divided themselves into several groups and raided from house to house. Victimsin each of the houses were dispossessed of their valuables such as cash,laptop, telephone sets, jewellery and wrist watches.
A victim, Tunde Rasheed, residing on Muibi Street, Ogba, to PMNews that therobbers struck at about 5.20 a.m. Rasheed said 10 houses were raided on the twostreets.
Another victim who pleaded anonymityclaimed an unspecified amount of money belonging to his church was stolen bythe robbers. According to her, after collecting all the money in her possessionincluding her personal and church money, the robbers hit her with a plank andshe sustained a deep cut.
Thereafter, they broke into herwardrobe and stole her trinkets and all the jewelries she had acquired over theyears.
However, none of the women rapedduring the attack was willing to talk to PMNews’ correspondent.
A resident in the area said they arenow living in fear because the robbers might come back.
PMNews gathered that the robbersoperated successfully for more than 30 minutes and left before the policearrived.
Contacted on phone, the Lagos StatePolice Command, Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Joseph Jaiyeoba, a Superintendent of Police said the Area ‘G’Police Area Commander was yet to brief him about the incident. While at Area‘G’, PMNews’ reporters were refused entry due to its weekly lecture.
A similar operation was carried outin the area recently when the robbers killed a night guard.
